UNH GRAD ALUMNUS NAMED TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF MEDICAL NON-PROFIT

NEW HAVEN, CT (August 11, 2009) – REMEDY, in New Haven, has elected Joel M. Sachs, principal of Konowitz, Kahn & Company, P.C., to its Board of Directors. A Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Sachs serves clients in various industries. Also, he serves as the firm's elder care director, offering tax accounting and financial services, including bill paying and assistance with Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security.

A resident of Woodbridge, Mr. Sachs has been practicing accounting for more than 25 years. He has a Bachelor's Degree in accounting from American University, in Washington, D.C., a Master's Degree in Taxation from University of New Haven, and is a Certified Senior Advisor.

Active in many community outreach initiatives, Mr. Sachs is a board member and past president of Camp Laurelwood and past treasurer for the Rotary Club of New Haven. Currently, his serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater New Haven Jewish Family Services; the Endowment Fund Board of Congregation B'Nai Jacob Synagogue, in Woodbridge, CT; and the National Editorial Board for PDI Global, Inc.

REMEDY is a non-profit organization that provides international medical relief. Founded in 1991 by William H. Rosenblatt, MD, Professor of Anesthesiology at Yale University School of Medicine, REMEDY is a group of health care professionals and others promoting the nationwide practice of recovery of exposed-but-unused surgical supplies. Their mission is to provide international medical relief while reducing solid medical waste from US hospitals.
